FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Fort Worth Police said a woman was shot while sitting in her car in the Ridgmar Mall parking lot around 5:30 Monday evening.

She was rushed to the hospital but later died.

Police said the victim was shot multiple times.

The parking lot was closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation.

A Fort Worth Police spokesman said, “The suspect has possibly been identified and is not believed to be in our city.”

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Fort Worth Police public information officer Brad Perez said detectives are looking at all evidence.

“They are following all possible leads. They are checking for potential witnesses and trying to get as much information as we can,” said Perez.
