Tired of your summer nail color? If you have spent the last months painting your nails that same, old color of red, it’s time to branch out in the beauty department and try something new. Just as clothing styles change each season, so should your nail polish. So, here are the latest and greatest trends in nail polish and where to buy them.

Taupes & Blush-Tones

Some of the hottest trends in clothing colors for spring/summer are taupes and blush-tones. But, these muted pinks and browns can be tricky to wear. If you love this look, but an all-over blush or taupe outfit is not the best option for your skin tone, try translating this fashion trend to your nail color. Muted nail polish in both taupes and blush-tones pairs nicely with a variety of vibrant clothing colors like teals, greens and purples. You can still wear your favorite clothing colors while embracing a new fashion trend through your nails!

One of my favorite new brands of nail polish is Deborah Lippmann, and it is available at both Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. If you want to dive into blush-tone nail polish this summer, try Deborah Lippmann’s “Naked” for $16.

Nail color in neon hues has become a hot trend this summer. Bright nail polishes are not typically a favorite of the fashion sophisticate or classique, but if you feel that you are just the right combination of trendy and daring, brights can be a fun new addition to your nail color wardrobe. Just remember to pair your bright nail polish with clothing colors that do not fight for the spotlight. The key to wearing bright nail color well is to downplay the rest of your outfit so that you don’t look like a glow-in-the-dark work of art. Try pairing bright nail colors like greens, blues, and yellows with neutral clothing colors like blacks, taupes, or whites.

One of my favorite nail polish finds this summer is Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri products. This fast-acting nail polish dries in just minutes and is perfect for the girl-on-the-go! Plus, they are super cheap (about $4.54 per bottle at Target). If you are feeling daring and want to embrace brights this summer, try Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri in “Brisk Blue” or “Mint Sprint” that runs between $4-$6.

Coral is the fashion color of the season, whether you choose to wear it as an all-over ensemble or only as your nail color. Just remember that there can be too much of a good thing when it comes to coral. So, if you paint your nails a coral shade, skip the coral dress and opt for clothing that will give your overall look a bit more contrast and interest. Coral nail polish is a fabulous companion for teal, purple, navy and neutral clothing colors.

My favorite coral nail polish colors are by OPI and include “Melon of Troy,” “Hot & Spicy,” “Lunch at the Delhi,” and “Hong Kong Sunrise.” Ulta carries an extensive collection of OPI nail colors in store for $8-$12.
