Mark Drees

I am a native Texan born and raised in the small town Beeville, near Corpus Christi.

As a child, I was afraid of thunderstorms. However, my fear soon turned into a passion. During my teenage years, I collected weather data for KIII-TV in Corpus Christi and completed both basic and advanced SKYWARN Storm Spotter training at the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi by the age of 16. I started chasing soon after that.

I have spent the past five years chasing for KXXV/KRHD-TV in the Waco/Bryan-College Station area (2010-2015) before joining the CBS 11 Weather Authority. When not chasing, I can be found working at AT&T and spending free time enjoying outdoors with my son, Joshua.

My most memorable tornado would have to be the November 7, 2011 tornado near the Tipton-Snyder, Oklahoma, which was the most photogenic and the only EF4 tornado on record in the month of November.
