Running is said to be good for one’s health. Man’s best friend is no exception to that rule. In Best Parks To Walk Your Dog In DFW a few places were listed where you can take your four-legged pal. This is an expansion of that list with new places where you can let your dog run off leach.

Your dog might think it has arrived at doggie heaven when you take it to NorthBark Dog Park – the largest dog park in North Texas. Located in far north Dallas near the Dallas North Tollway and President George Bush Tollway, the 22.3-acre park features everything a dog and its owner would want. For dogs there are fenced areas, trails, dog drinking bowl, dog shower, a small dog and separate large dog areas and pet waste station. It will feel like a vacation when your four-legged friend enjoys playing at the “dog beach” adjacent to the doggy lake. Plus, there is a six-foot wide loop trail. For pet owners there are benches, a grill, outdoor luncheon tables, drinking fountain, portalets and parking. Both dogs and their owners can relax in the pavilion and take in the scenery including elegant carved structures to enhance the view. NorthBark Dog Park is free and open to the public from 5:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. and is closed on Tues. for maintenance.

The Railroad Dog Park in Lewisville features a separate area for small dogs, benches, shad, water and is lighted for its extended hours. The park is free and open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Tails and Trails Dog Park offers 5.7 acres of space for your furry friend to enjoy. There are separate areas for small and large dogs. The Park has benches, trails and water fountains. It is open from dawn to dusk.

Wiggly Field is more than just a cute play on words from Chicago’s own Wrigley Field Baseball Park. Denton’s Wiggly Field has scores of trails, a nearby pond in its three acres of park area. Wiggly Field is free and open daily from sunrise to sunset except on Wednesdays for maintenance.

Located at the northwest side of White Rock Lake at Lawther and Mockingbird Lane, the east Dallas 2.2 acre dog park is not just fun for your dog but for you as well. Walking, jogging and cycling paths connect to the park as well as boating within the lake itself. The Park is going through some wonderful additions and when finished will sport a pavilion, six shade structures, two drinking fountains, five pet waste stations with trash cans, five benches, 45 trees and lighting in the park and the parking lot, plus the parking lot will be resurfaced. The small dog park is being increased from .5 to 1 acre and the large dog park area is being increased from 1.5 to 2 acres. Entry to the park will be free and open to the public after its projected May reopening.
