While the runways of New York City and Paris may be the first places that come to mind when one thinks of high fashion, talented designers in Dallas are doing more than making their mark.


Shirin Askari

Shirin is a graduate of the University of North Texas fashion design program and was on the 6th season of Project Runway. Shirin started sewing early and made her first dress at the age of seven. The Fashionistas, a Dallas-based group committed to celebrating all things fashion, hosted Shirin’s debut runway show in February of 2010. Nha Khanh

Khanh Nguyen is a graduate of the University of North Texas fashion design program. She did her senior internship in Paris, France. While there she was trained was trained by leading fashion professionals including; Nina Ricci, Jean Paul Gautier and Anne Valerie Hash. August Alexander

Courtney Russell Alexander is a couture designer who makes beautiful gowns and dress for some of the most fashionable women in Dallas. On his website Courtney says he created his fashion line to “provide expression to those who must express themselves confidently, boldly and uniquely”. Prashe Shah is one of the nations best Indian designers and wedding decorators. She is legendary through-out the country for being avante garde in her designs. At 17, Prashe left her hometown of Bedford and moved to New York to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her store, Prashe Fusion, is located at 13654 Welch Road in Dallas. Abi Ferrin

Abi is a casual and cocktail attire designer who is housed out of South Side on Lamar. She employs women rescued from the sex trade in Nepal by incorporating their hand-made buttons into her designs.
