The sushi spectrum ranges from expensive fine dining to affordable and from traditional Japanese cuisine to modern interpretations. Whether you’re going out for a special occasion or looking for a new neighborhood sushi spot, there’s a place in Dallas for you. Across the board, here are the best of the best.

Blue Fish

Multiple locations including:
925 W. John Carpenter Freeway
Irving, TX 75039
(972) 385-3474

You’ll find some really original dishes at Blue Fish along side the more traditional rolls, small plates, and bento box specials. One of the best? The Ahi Tower: Tuna tartar, snow crab, avocado salad, wasabi sauce, and sushi rice all formed into an impressive pillar.

2938 N. Belt Line Road
Irving, TX 75062
(972) 258-0250

In the neighborhood since 1987, Hanasho is in an unassuming strip mall. Don’t let the appearance fool you. While the prices are low, the quality certainly isn’t. Their sushi is among the best in the Metroplex.

Little Katana

4527 Travis Street
Dallas, TX 75205
(214) 443-9600

Fresh sushi, innovative rolls, steak (for those who are less keen on raw fish), and an extensive sake list make Little Katana a Dallas favorite. Start with the Katana 101 roll and see why.

400 Crescent Court
Dallas, TX 75201
(214) 252-7000

Nobu has made a name for itself as one of the finest sushi restaurants in the world with locations in cities such as Dubai, Hong Kong, and London. Dallas is pleased to be one of the few cities in the United States that can enjoy dishes like toro tartar with caviar and lobster ceviche. Be prepared, however, to pay like a foreign prince for it.

Piranha Killer Sushi

Multiple locations including:
851 N.E. Green Oaks Boulevard
Arlington, TX
(817) 261-1636

Moderately priced sushi and some decent entree options for the non-sushi crowd make Piranhas good. It’s their Marry Me roll that makes them killer. Shrimp tempura and ginger cream topped with tuna, avocado, and sliced strawberries is almost too good to be true.

Ra Sushi

7501 Lone Star Drive
Plano, TX 75024
(469) 467-7400

Their sashimi plates are the best. Plates like yellow tail with a garlic citrus ponzu and scallions are refreshing and the fish they use is so fresh, it melts in your mouth. While you’re there, order the spicy rice crispy treats. (They’re not what you think!)

7713 Inwood Road
Dallas, TX 75209
(214) 352-0005

A zen interior and beautifully presented dishes are only the beginning of why Shinsei is one of the best restaurants in Dallas. Owners Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing prove that they know just as much about excellent cuisine as their celebrity chef husbands.

Sushi Axiom

Multiple locations including:
2323 N. Henderson Avenue
Dallas, TX 75206
(214) 828-2288

A hip dinner destination with good sushi, specialty cocktails, and happy hour deals. Their fresh jalapeno roll is an excellent, modern fusion of Southwest and Far East flavors.
